rushing as a sophomore

by:

heyyy so I haven't really met anyone or befriended girls in sororities and I'm not going to be here over the summer, but I want to rush as a sophomore in the fall. do sororities already know which sophomores they want? will I get a bid from an okay sorority? I really love tri delt and ADPi but I think my chances are weak being a sophomore and not really knowing anyone in those sororities... will this play a big role when I rush? if so how do I make up for it??

yes, being a sophomore will make a huge difference in rushing. it is unlikely you will get a bid to your "favorite" tri delt or ADPi house. You are really too old now to rush. forget it and be a GDI

Don't know what the person above is talking about... It barely makes a difference if you're a sophomore. If they want you, they want you. RUSH!!

In the exact same boat :/

Anyone have percentages on number of sophomores rushing that get a bid? Also, number of upperclassmen getting in top tier?

Being a sophomore is fine when you rush. SO many houses have PC 14's that are sophomores or JUNIORS so whatever that top person said is irrelevant.

i think its like 15% of the PC is upperclassmen (sophomores, juniors, seniors)

I say rush and go into it with an open mind. I rushed as a sophomore too. There are so many other great chapters. I went into it thinking I wanted KD because I'm a legacy and they're "good". But come time after prefs I decided to go elsewhere that's considered "middle" because I felt more at home there. I'm so glad I did because I don't know what Id do without my sisters these past two years. Rush and be yourself!

There are actually a lot more sophmores who rush and get in than you think. Its not really a big factor when they try to decide, and i feel like it helped me personally because i was more put together as a sophomore. The hard part is to stay open minded, because you probably have seen or heard about different houses already. I had an idea of who i wanted going in, but ended up feeling most at home at a house i had really considered before i rush.

I rushed as a freshman and found my home right away but there are multiple sophomores and even a few juniors in my PC and there is no divide! You will find your place somewhere and if a house doesn't want you because you are a sophomore its probably not a place you would want to be anyways!
