sorority rerush

Has anyone ever rushed and joined a sorority then dropped and rushed again the next year successfully, or heard of anyone who has?

You can't rush and join and then quit and then rush again. Once you are initiated into a sorority you are in that sorority for life and you can't join another one.

You can rush, get a bid, and drop before initiation and be eligible to rerush during the next Formal Recruitment.
But keep in mind you will have to work harder because if you get a bid and drop before initiation, houses will be less likely to take you because you've already dropped one house, who says you won't drop them.

Yes it can happen and I have friends who are in my sorority that rushed and joined a different sorority last fall. Just be honest during rush about why you dropped and you should be fine.

wrong! you cannot be initiated and then join a new sorority. Panhellenic keeps track of all of that. You are wrong.

Not wrong actually, you can accept a bid and drop before initiation and rush again the following fall.
