grades during rush

by:

How much do grades matter during rush? Can they see your high school GPA if you're a freshman rushing? Do they look at grades before giving bids or after and how much does it really effect getting a bid or not? Last one, what is considered good GPA's and bad GPA's here??

Ditto-ing this post! I'd also like to ask if we will have to give out our unweighted or weighted high school GPA.

You will its a question asked during recruitment sign up. I believe is unweighted.

Hi.
Maybe wait until you're accepted to UF before you worry about this.
Actually focus on your grades and you won't have a problem.

Hello.
Considering UF doesn't count your senior grades your post is irrelevant. Get your facts straight.

I am seriously concerned that you're only concerned about grades for Recruitment.
Get your priorities straight.

I'm not at UF either and I agree that the High School posts need to stop, but the term is "Potential" new member so they're technically correct. Just give them a break, we're all excited and curious...

You're not a PNM until you register for Formal Recruitment.

I'm in a top tier at UF and the way you guys are talking to these girls, I don't see what would make them want to rush after seeing how nasty and rude you guys are over simple questions. You're the reason greek gets a bad reputation.

It's a fair question. If you get into UF your grades are fine. No one sees them but you may voluntarily disclose if you have reference letters. Only know of one sorority that publishes a required HS gpa and that's low(2.5) and waiver-able. These are SOCIAL organizations, not academic. That said many sororitys have gpas higher than the general population. Grades only matter if there is concern you won't be able to balance school with your B-U-S-Y schedule. You would reap more benefit by focusing on self improvement, community involvement and a rigorous workout program. Full disclosure I don't attend UF just surfed upon this cat fight

Lololol obvi you don't go to UF ( and wtf you need a hobby how does one stumble upon this irrelevant nonsense) but this is wrongggg wrong wrong. My sorority had a published minimum acceptance GPA, as do almost all, which is NOT flexible, but we privately hold our own standard of acceptance which is further above a 3.0. Honestly if you don't have that (most do, this isn't FSU) you're kind of an idiot and we're not interested.

Why do people with no knowledge come here and comment, I'm just so confused?

What GPA is considered "good" when going into recruitment?

The higher is better. Bare minimum is typically at least 3.0, it's favorable to have 3.5+ especially coming out of high school into UF its rare to find girls lower than that. If you're a transfer/late rush it can vary based on say, your major.

The only big warning I'd give is to make sure you don't blow it Summer B if you go. We don't want to bid girls that are just going to live on academic probation.

OP-there you are straight from the source. And @wut is right on many levels. If you find a group you click with (for real) chances are you will have similar grades. But every chapter follows a different national charter and every local chapter enacts different Exec Rules so you're aiming at a moving target with grades. Also an inflated 4.5 HS gpa won't assure your bid but a poor personal presentation will likely diminish your chances. Thus making obsession on grades irrelevant. If really concerned use 1st year to build you collegiate transcript,GET INVOLVED, then rush 2nd year you may make more informed decisions then.

do they actually verify the gpa that you put down?
