how to get into top sororities
by: Just WonderingI'm going to be an incoming freshman at UF next year and I am very interested in joining a sorority. I have looked into the differences between the sororities and their different houses since I hope to live in a sorority house my sophomore year. I am the most interested in KD, so I was wondering how hard/competitive this sorority is to get into. My second choice would be ZTA and my third choice would be DDD. I am 5'9, have long blonde hair, blue eyes, tan, and like to stay in shape. My wardrobe consists of Lilly P and I would describe my style as definitely preppy. I don't have any legacies or family who has gone to UF or been in any sororities. As of now I also don't have any recommendations. I was just wondering how my chances of getting into my top 3 sororities, especially KD, look? Thanks!

Those are all pretty competitive. But you can't really go into rush with that mind set. I did the same thing and picked completely different houses that I actually liked. The house I ended up in wasn't one I would have thought I would have ended up in. Not in a bad way, they just didn't reputably have the same style as me but going through rush that didn't matter so much to me. I wanted a place that would feel like home and thats what I got in an unexpected place. Don't be crushed if you don't get asked back at those houses. There are plenty of other amazon sisterhoods that if you get asked back probably think you'll fit in better there.

It depends on a lot of different factors that aren't made apparent until rush. You should definitely get rec letters though. Instead of choosing based on looks, go for the sorority with the girls you want to be like personality wise. I chose my sorority with the seniors who I looked up to the most and I love it. Go in with an open mindset. The sororities are so huge that there are beautiful and homely girls in every single one.

Thank you to all the nice people who responded kindly, your advice helped. To all the others, just for the record I will not and never would pick a sorority just on "looks" or "top tiers" , I narrowed my top 3 sororities down because I researched them and all the other sororities in dept and felt as though their sisterhoods, values, community service outlooks, and connections within the work place were most similar to mine and what I am looking to do and become.
