still upset about rush

by: still upset

Ok, so I am a legacy of a top tier. I went through rush and I ended up doing pretty good through second round but then got lots of cuts, including the legacy house. I dropped out and am going to try again next fall but someone said I could have gotten cut by houses because they knew I was a legacy at a good house and they figured I would go there if I had the chance. Does that really happen? Do you get dropped at houses because you are a legacy at another house?

It could happen, yes, but don't put all your eggs into that basket. Please please please if you do rush again in the fall keep an open mind. Being "top tier" shouldn't be your only focus, and if it is, you're joining for all the wrong reasons and need to reevaluate why you're even rushing. There are a lot of reasons that a sorority might cut you, none of them are personal though and it's really true that everything happens for a reason. Every sorority --top or bottom-- has something good to offer and there are friends to be made and wonderful experiences to be had. Also, just keep in mind that it's more difficult to rush as a sophomore or a junior and you're more likely to be cut from houses because of that.

Rush is hard, but keep your head up and don't let it get you down! Try again next year and I hope you have better results! <3

Unless you brought it up to them, or you know someone well who in each chapter that would tell them, that's probably not why you got cut. Legacies are given preferential treatment so if you were still cut by that house, I'm really sorry, but the girls you met felt it wasn't meant to be. You need to go where you feel comfortable, not just strive for status, because it won't turn out happily.
