Dei at sororities literally just means making sure everyone’s included. It’s not that deep.

Seriously, which house OP? Some houses are more conservative and some more liberal but every house has both liberals and conservatives. And if anything, the DEI group’s job is to be inclusive and should be there to protect against the sorority officially taking a political position either way.

DEI in houses during Biden administration? That is pretty liberal to me. DEI means that you believe in promotion based on gender and race. Not the best candidate regardless of race, color or creed. That is discrimination. So why the need for DEI?

By: Why then?

get your head out of your *ss. There have been efforts for inclusion to make everyone feel welcome in houses since before you were born. I'm so tired of this whole DEI discussion...it has been turned into something it is not, and has just become an excuse to be racist and exclusionary when you rail against it. Every house has girls with liberal and conservative views...it is not cut and dry, one or the other, and it's really not that deep.

Diversity. (A group of people from diverse backgrounds is a good thing. If we were all the same life would be very boring). Equity. (Being fair to all). Inclusion. (Making sure everyone feels included). Are these bad words to you? It’s a sorority, it’s not Harvard. Dei helps sisters feel welcome and included.

Thats completely fine. everyone should feel welcome regardless of their skin or background.

But DEI policies have increasingly become a method to straight up ostracize those who are perceieved to be in the "privileged group".

ex: A white person is more privileged than an asian person, a straight black person is more privileged than an asian person, a black-trans person is more privileged than a black straight person and will get the spot or position.

Giving preference to someone because of gender, tace and ethnicity . That is DEI. Was a hot issue after 2020. Not fair that it is why it rejected in the last Presidential election. Liberal and Progressive way to have favoritism.

By: DEI is racism . Period

Sororities do their best to ensure their sisterhood is comprised of girls from all backgrounds and that nobody is excluded based solely on a disability or ethnicity or background...it's an effort to ensure girls are exposed to all types of girls and aren't just cookie cutter versions of themselves. If someone is still not a good fit for that house, regardless of race, ethnicity, background, etc...they are simply not given a bid. But they have someone there to ensure that not giving a bid is not based on that kind of criteria.

So, houses have girls of all backgrounds, beliefs, hair color, size, interests, etc. If you are going into recruitment based solely on whether you can surround yourself with only your ideals, then you are going into it for the wrong reason

you guys are purposefully f*cking dense. for you old hags — standards became DEI. it’s a position that ensures everyone is safe, included, and supported. this includes but is not limited to concerns regarding race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, and first gen college status. greek life is historically for wealthy white girls and gives preference to girls with connections, this position ensures everyone is on a slightly more even playing field but still mostly functions like standards.

my best friend in my sorority is a white girl but she is the first in her family to go to college and cannot afford dues without scholarships/loans. our DEI officer worked with our finance chair to lower dues for her when she was unemployed and always sends her any and every scholarship our sorority offers her way. first gen college students are already more likely to drop out, this HELPS them.

what’s so bad about making sure your sisters experience the same awesome things u get to? do only rich straight WASPy white girls get to enjoy greek life? Because if you think that we all know what you are and you have no space in the future of greek life.

Once again handouts. Why should some expect a hand out from a srst to join a house at a lower cost. That is not fair to the other members that belong. I would resent the hell out of this. This is favoritism and racist on all level. This is why DEI sucks and is tying America. Do not join a srat if you can not afford it. This is laughable. Flat out racism ,

"Diversity" is just a nice sounding way of saying "anyone who isn't white, or male".

Inherently, it is damaging to the optimal functioning of an organization because it prioritizes skin color over competency and qualifications. What happened to judging people by the content of their character? If the optimal candidate happens to be "non-white", then so be it, they should be chosen, and you'd have naturally occurring diversity within a group and nothing would be compromised.

Thinking that non-white people somehow need a "leg up" or a "crutch" to get into an organization is actually insulting to THEM, if you think about it logically. Why would you think that this is necessary, unless you hold the inherent belief that they are inferior, incapable, and too stupid to be able to fill a position based on their own merits?

Furthermore, any non-white candidate in a DEI (DIE) promoting organization will forever be psychologically tormented wondering if they are there because they are capable, or if they are a pawn in some mass group-think political virtue-signal campaign. And all other members of the organization will additionally have an increased likelihood of not taking them seriously, for they will suspect the same, even if the candidate truly was the best pick.
