PNMS PLEASE READ!!!

don’t believe for a second that any of these rankings are based on anything except frat relations and perceptions. if all you care about is pairing with top frats and having conventionally attractive friends that is fine but don’t let anyone convince you that involvement, academics, or sisterhood plays any role in the rankings on this site. phi mu was uf chapter of the year in 2021 and 2022. aephi and chi o consistently have the best gpas. some of the “top” houses have the worst retention rates bc so many people join them for the wrong reasons and have a toxic experience. if any of that meant anything to the people on this site i think the rankings would look a lot different. in the end the most important thing is to stay open minded during recruitment and listen to your gut when choosing your chapter.

Pretty much spot on. They are based on stereotyping and just bashing groups.

Adpi and Kd have excellent retention rates . Those two houses are the top. Adpi also chapter of the year.

I get why this statement is being made, but I just want to share from my experience. Everyone in my group was excited and nervous during recruitment. Girls in my group did not care what house had the highest gpa, if a house was chapter of the year, what houses were most involved on campus or even the houses with the best sisterhood. We were all just trying to get through the process and understand how it all works. We were trying to remember who we spoke to at each house and what we liked about the houses. Then, we were all trying to get through the lower moments when we were not invited back to a house we liked. Girls were more excited to see inside the houses, how members looked, and what the house had planned at their party. PNMS do not think like sisters that have been in a house for a year or more. Girls are thinking more about which house wants them and the excitement of Bid Day. They are not thinking much more than that. Think back to when you just moved to Gainesville and were excited for recruitment week and football games.

I agree w you but that’s why maybe the pnms should consider achievements pre-recruitment because, to your point, it is something that became important once you were in the Greek system. So you’re right, I wasn’t focusing on knowing those “stats” during recruitment but I honestly wonder if I would have selected a different house if I had taken that into consideration because I’m in a very social house and I already had a bf coming into college and I don’t really enjoy a lot of the same things as half my chapter. I like volunteering and stuff and they like making tik toks and going out every night. I found a group in my chapter and I love my house, don’t get me wrong, but I’m just saying that I think you’re explaining why it is important to kind of know which chapters are into the same stuff as you before recruitment

Yep, the number of followers on IG will not make one house better than another in reality...what social media portrays is cultivated and is not the whole truth. Maybe you prefer a house that is social but also academic or a house that is very chill, maybe a house that has a philanthropy you love or one that places a lot of emphasis on attending social events and being "seen"...this site is not going to help you with any of that. Ranks are from people generally not even involved in greek life that make generalizations off social media posts and reputations that may or may not even be valid...you need to meet people and go with your gut and not what some stranger on here thinks

A pnm can't truly analyze what a house is like in the little time they spend during a round. Every house is putting on their best face and image. If you want pnms to choose a house based on more than just gossip, social, popularity, and looks we need to have delayed recruitment. If you have delayed recruitment pnms get to observe houses and houses get to watch pnms for a semester. Then, UF gpa comes into play and one semester can tell allot about what a pnm really is like. At least then pnms can see what houses really are about from campus activities/involvement, socials, gpa, awards and so forth.

Delayed recruitment would absolutely ruin sorority life because the downside is worse than anything that happens now. It's never like you describe, where pnm's just stand back and observe sororities and then make informed choices based on GPA and leadership etc during rush. Talk to any girl who goes to a school with this kind of recruitment. It's all about them hearing others' opinions based on the superficial stuff you are talking about.

At these schools, the pnm's become far more exposed and influenced by the "gossip, social, popularity, and looks" you are talking about directly from people, and most of it comes from fraternity boys and rampant pre-rushing from sorority members.

When the girls interested in joining a sorority can't have a sorority home their first semester, they inevitably attach themselves to fraternity guys for their social life - parties and game days etc - and meeting sorority members. The frat boys tell them what sororities they think are best, based of course on looks and hotness and party-worthiness while denegrating the other sororities based on the same fratty lens. So they are essentially rushing the pnm's and having an influence they shouldn't because of delayed recruitment.

And the sorority members meet some pnm's and rush them hard all semester. They have their favorite pnm's picked out before recruitment and the pnm's also have picked out where they only want to join. There is much less open-mindedness on the part of sororities or pnm's when recruitment comes around, everyone already has their mind made up and there are far more drops when pnm's don't get their top choices. They've wanted them all semester as opposed to a few days in recruitment and their minds are totally shut at this point. This is how reputations get cemented in people's minds and a downward spiral happens. Sorority membership drops off across the board.

Do you really think GPA, campus involvement, awards, sisterhood, etc are what pnm's are thinking about at this point? Please.

Delayed recruitment is a terrible idea and one that every single national sorority will discourage, if not fight.

Endorsement of Fall Primary Recruitment

NPC defines primary recruitment as the period of time during the academic year when events are held by each NPC sorority on a campus for the purpose of selecting new
members. NPC endorses primary recruitment occurring at the beginning of the fall academic term for these reasons:

• Freedom of association: NPC organizations should be free to recruit, select and enroll new members at any time that other student organizations – such as intercollegiate athletics, musical ensembles and other recognized student organizations – may do so to uphold students’ rights to freely associate and to ensure a fair and equitable application of student policy.

• Acclimation: Provides women an early opportunity to adapt to the demands of campus life, including academic, social, cultural and service components, by quickly
affiliating with a supportive subset of women students.

• Retention: Engages women quickly as first-year students so they continue toward degree completion.

• Mentoring: Provides woman-to-woman mentoring
opportunities via collegiate chapter members and alumnae.

• Academic support: Encourages women to engage in chapter academic study and scholarship groups immediately.

• Time management: Provides optimum experience without distractions from recruitment activities throughout the fall academic term.

• Scheduling: Offers fewer disruptions caused by inclement weather conditions.

Additionally, sorority programming and expectations follow the missions of higher education institutions by fostering a spirit of sisterhood, which serves as a safety net for young women as they acclimate to a college/university environment. Sorority programming and services also provide first-year women a sound base for educational success throughout college. Moreover, studies indicate student retention is enhanced by membership in a sorority, where sharing common interests and values with mutually supportive members leads togreater collegiate satisfaction.

NPC believes there is no substitute for the enrichment sororities offer young women as part of the college/university experience, and this enrichment is most beneficial early in the academic year. NPC asserts deferred recruitment is not in the best interests for the
health and welfare of a sound sorority community and its members.
