Gaining leadership in your sorority

by:

If you are interested in a leadership position in your sorority, here are a few helpful hints:

1) be bffs with people already on exec but most importantly, on the nom com.

2) don't worry about being the best at your area of interest, or have great ideas, they aren't looking for that, they are looking for people everyone loves and who they want to hang out with on exec

3) you don't have to obsess over joining too many committees for experience or always helping out or being overly dependable to show you are a great candidate for exec. Again, they aren't really looking to promote those people to exec

4) In the end, don't take it personally if you aren't selected. They probably picked who they wanted long before you ever decided to interview. It's usually based on connections and popularity more than experience.

5) it's a thankless job anyhow, so if you aren't selected, count your blessings and go out and enjoy your life now.

You better be besties with the nom com, in a family lineage that holds the position, or be the only one willing to run for a position nobody else wants…experience need not apply

Definitely sucks to be passed over because the nom com /exec clique handpicks bffs over qualification and experience. Been there. Take your talents elsewhere to shine
