Somebody had my comment removed, must have hit a nerve! So here it is again:

I think some of it is certain frat guys because they have a stake in who is at the top or who ppl think are “hot” because it will reflect on their reputation based on who they socialize with. Or put down houses they won’t socialize with who aren’t easy party types.
