So, new member here. Had a chance to go top or bottom (by choice) based on who I actually liked best and connected with and a number of other factors like National rep and where some of my friends were going to end up. What I noticed post rush:
Tops have some unattractive girls that surprised me. Just as many as any other sorority. I have gorgeous friends that weren’t even looked at by them and then I see some that don’t look like the typical fit. Seemed out of place but I’m not judging, I like girls for who they are…I mean I’m not a dude (jk ish)
Miss and bottoms have just as many beautiful, cute, fit, hot girls as the tops tbh. So many pretty girls got cut by tops. And so many not so typically beautiful girls were bid by tops. Honestly all the pledge classes looked the same to me except tri delt that was still mostly blonde even if not all beautiful.
So with the exception of one or two houses, I didn’t see much of a difference at least not where looks are concerned and maybe that’s a good thing…I mean if I’m supposed to “go where I feel at home”, “ignore rank” “trust the process”, shouldn’t the houses also ignore superficial things too? I’m my opinion everyone did a good job of that.
But yeah. I ended up in a top and my class is not any more attractive or outstanding than the bottom that was my second choice. 🤷♀️
You can throw rank out the window if you’re relying on looks this year.

i agree that the new chi o pc is a lot more facey than their past few, which were pretty bad. it’s good that they’re starting to get better about recruiting again. the pi phi pc was about the same quality as their past few, which was much worse than they used to recruit. the new dz pc was good, like their past few, and they’ve been recruiting much better than they used to the past few years. theta was also great, like their past few years, and they’re solidly the top of mid. alpha chi got some really pretty and cool seeming girls, like they do every year, but their pc as a whole tends to lack cohesiveness which i think contributes to their bad retention. they just take the prettiest girls they can get every year. deeph is deeph, i feel like the quality of their pc doesn’t really make too much of a difference in where they sit in mid. i think recruitment this year is really going to solidify a lot of chapter’s places in mid. some of them are definitely going up and staying there. others are tanking.

Yeah, it’s a stereotype to think that only hot girls are in top houses. They just get overlooked in the mid houses because they’re not all about the party scene.

As an older Greek member, you will learn that the tops are not just taking good looking girls. They’re also taking people w connections and those that can offer something to the chapter like maybe leadership on campus, athletics, or dance. Girls from certain high schools/towns have an advantage at certain houses. Some tops guarantee a bid to an active sister’s sister no matter what she looks like. So when you’re going through recruitment as a good looking upper middle class girl who’s from a school without a lot of alum girls in the Greek system and you don’t have some sort of clout or connections, you’re almost guaranteed to end up in a mid house. It also depends which girls in a chapter talk to you or watch your video and what they individually value. Videos matter so much and so does social media. If you came to summer B and are on socials with drinks or hooked up with frat guys that affects you too. Girls in every chapter are friends w girls in other chapters so when you’re rude to a lower tier house bc you say you’re going top tier they may text their top house friend and say you’re rude and then the top tier house drops you. There are so many random factors that go into recruitment. It’s an imperfect process run by imperfect people. Hopefully you got a house on bid day. Give it a true chance with an open mind and heart. You might find out that it’s amazing. You just missed that during rush when you were fixated on a top tier’s Instagram.

This is one of the best comments that I have seen here. So many girls fall thru the cracks in rush because they don’t market themselves. They have private insta or an insta that is just a few pictures. They make a bad video and that’s really hurts them.
High school seniors who want to rush next year start now marketing yourself!

Unfortunately top houses can skip over top PNM’s because that PNM doesn’t have the high school or connections or a sister in that house. Luckily for the mid / bottom tier houses they get those girls and the top is stuck with someone’s friend or sister that is mediocre but has the connections. Look at tagged sorority Instagram photos to see who got who.

There are OOS members in top. Most do a pretty good job of marketing themselves prior to rush but some just connect really well or are super hot and well put together. Videos can make or break someone. So can Instagram.

This is all not true.
Adpi’s and Zta’s pc do not like the same as phi mu and Sk. What are you smoking? The top houses have a hell of more attractive girls. And yes looks are apart of the selection process. You can call it what ever you want. It is a club. They select their own members.
Stop taking this so personally . I have friends in Adpi, Zta and Kd. I have had the chance to see their new PC’s. They are very attractive as a whole . Not so much the bottom tier as an a whole.

I was at the game yesterday. I was in the think of the student section .I saw a bunch of Adpi’s and Zta’s. All of them were attractive . I saw many Axo Seniors, they were not attractive at all. I also saw a bunch of gamma phi’s. Not cute at all.
There is no comparison folks. The top is where the girls are hot.

kappa and phi mu both got good classes. top was not top this year, lots of pretty girls in mid and lower tiers. only house in mid tier that seemed to struggle was pi phi, they are declining. theta did great and so did chio. dz and axo and deeph were about the same as usual
