rise/decline
by: GirlOk so as a girl I'm a little confused as to what causes a sorority to rise or fall in the tier system. Is is strictly about looks or are there other factors? I'd say be honest, but everyone here is pretty brutal lol.

Judgement of ranking is almost completely on looks honestly, but the reason houses go up in down in quality can be any anything, how well they recruit, their social calendar that attracts girls, ect. Also important is taste, most would call maybe AOPi and KD the same ranking (very high) but the vibe in each is very different. It'll be obvious when you go through rush.
And a point to stress is I'd say the house personality is more important than ranking, aim for the highest of houses you feel comfortable. Some girls would be more comfortable in like DG or DPhi over ADPi.

For the 2013/2014 academic year, the University of Florida received over 29,000 applications for 6,400 available slots. Approximately 55% (3,520) of those students were female. 1,400 of those young women chose to participate in 2013 Fall Rush. Quota for PC'13 was 70 or a total of 1,120 girls. Rest assured each house is full of bright, talented, athletic, accomplished leaders. I am a member of PC'13, my mom (also UF Greek) told me the same stereotypes existed 30 years ago. WHAT?? Here is my advise...Go through rush for the experience, keep an open heart and mind. Each round is different, if you don't hit it off with a girl in round one, you might meet your future BFF in round two or three. Don't get sucked into other peoples' opinions because in the end only yours will matter. You will find the right fit for you in a house full of beautiful, caring, talented young women! Go Gators and Go Greek!

I'd say just as fraternity rankings is really based on girl's opinion, Sorority rankings would be based on if they're having socials/hc week with top fraternities. And just as their is no top fraternity (SAE, EX, ATO are considered the top few) there is no unanimous top sorority house...

Honestly most of it is looks. If a chapter gets some particularly hot girls then everyone will go "wow they're moving up" even if the girls aren't involved and have lower GPAs. Sad but that's how it usually goes. The whole tier thing is mostly looks and is stupid don't even try to understand

A lot of girls have come to the consensus that they don't understand the big hype around sigma chi or SAE and don't really like hanging or with them. I think frat rankings is also based on historical ranking.
