too late to join?

As a sophomore that didn't get a bid at the house I wanted during fall, I was wondering whether being a sophomore spring semester looking to rush again makes me an unattractive candidate for houses. Even in fall brothers asked why I didn't join as a freshman, when finances and things at home wouldn't allow me to. I'd still be 19 but I feel like some houses prefer freshmen over over older students.
