re rushing
by: AgainA couple of PNMs have texted me about re rushing if they don't like their choices, and of course we aren't supposed to give that kind of advice, but I'm posting it here because my suitemate last year did that and she thinks she'll go top tier this year.... as a person in a top tier sorority, please don't do this to yourself. The sororities that dropped you last year are most likely going to drop you again, probably in the first round. If you dropped from rush after you were dropped from your top choices, a do over is just going to hurt you again. This has been discussed during our recruitment meetings. I just want to save any hurt feelings. ESPECIALLY if you got a bid and dropped, don't think you can just get a do over. NEW PNMS- if you aren't ready to make your choice in August, then wait and rush as a sophomore or take your chances with Spring. Don't go in and quit. EVERYONE gets dropped from one house they love, most get dropped from 4-5. Don't dismiss the ones you have left, embrace them or just don't go Greek. When in doubt talk to your pi chis
#1by: I agree,
100 percent, I got a bid from one of the Top 3. Was star struck 17 old freshman, I could not believe I got the bid from this house. I am a senior in the Fall, My house sucks. I actually like like only 3 people in my PC. I really would call no one my true friend. I wished I would have droppped out. Do not join a house for the status symbol. I wish I would have dropped out. The true top is Highly over rated. The whole process of rushing is shallow . HS all over again. Girls with money, girls that think they are better than year.

PNMs this is very wise advice. If you drop you will at least see 25% of your college Greek life gone. You will see other freshmen go to game days, socials etc. if you don’t get into top tier then at least try your house and if you dislike it by initiation then drop and rush next year.
Spring rush is very limited and little to no spots in top tier

i agree with everything OP said but if you make/have friends in certain houses and are potentially a strong PNM as a sophomore (more involved, higher GPA), there is certainly a chance you can get a bid at a "better ranked" sorority. however, this is the only way i can see that happening... no one likes a social climbing tryhard.
and while ik a handful of girls who did rush better the next year, PLS PLS PLS for the love of god, don't get fixated on 1 or 2 houses, especially the top tiers.... you WILL be disappointed. give the houses on your schedule a chance, those are the houses that can see you in their sisterhood. the top chapters here at UF are great (in fact, all UF chapters are!) but they're not perfect ! no chapter is! every chapter has its flaws and its strengths and please consider that when you're rushing. do not get caught up with the appearances of rush and pay attention to the houses that WANT YOU!!!!!

I am also one on those girls. I am begging you not to get caught up in the Tier crap. I chose the higher tier house and wish I would have gone with my gut. I joined the middle tier house ) I knew it was not right for me) . I preffed at two lower tier houses too, I WISH I would have gone with the lower tier house. It was perfect for me. That is where I felt at home. It has been miserable for me. Please ignore the stupid hype associated with KD, Adpi and Zta too. They Are highly over rated at IF.
