historical rankings
by: CuriousI was wondering if anybody had any insight on what the fraternity and sorority "rankings" were like back in the day, like throughout the 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's and early 2000's?

In the early 2000s, rankings were:
Fraternities:
SAE/SigEP/ATO (Spurrier being an ATO was a big deal)
SX/Phi Delt
KA/Theta Chi/Pi Kapp (KA used to be higher but got in trouble I think)
Pike/TEP/Phi Tau
Delt and Beta were on the rise, Beta had been kicked off...did HC with AXO and XO at first
KSig/Phi Sig (KSig went way up after new house)
Sororities:
KD/ZTA (KD fell after mid 2000s, ZTA gained more dominance)
DDD/DG (DG rose big while DDD fell)
ADPi (rose a lot to fill KDs shoes)
AOPi (rose big in 2000, used to be below theta)
Theta
XO/DZ
DPhiE/Pi Phi/AXO (XO fell below Pi Phi and on par w AXO by mid 2000s)
KKG/AEPhi
Phi Mu/SK
In the fifties/sixties/seventies, most Miss UFs and homecoming queens were ADPis or DDDs. In the 80s, more ZTAs started winning stuff, must have been when they rose.

Five seconds of Googling says she was a Pi Phi at Ole Miss.

Anyhow, I have a sneaking suspicion this thread was started by Pi Kapps trying to make the case they were THE top fraternity back in the day. They were good but not top. They'd do HC with Theta and AOPi in good years and AXO and Pi Phi would brag when they'd score a social with them but that doesn't make them tippy top tier. They could be in the future I guess if SigEp left a void.

what I know the top and middle tiers were pretty much the same as they are now except Sig Ep, ZBT, and Beta were not as relevant back then (they were new or middle/lower tier) . KA was better too. Pi Kapp and Pike were top or upper middle because they hadn't been suspended.

60's - Top sororities were DDD, DG, and ADPi, and Chi O was a solid fourth. All very good houses because the Greek system at UF has always been so strong.
70's - No change, but KD and ZTA both had good years.
80's - ZTA continues to get strong, and replaces Chi O, then becomes a top 3 with DG on top followed by DDD.
90's - KAT has some good pledge classes and becomes solid. Top 3 remain the same.
2000's - top 3 are DG, ZTA, DDD, which then fell for various reasons. DG had a stumble due to a silly video, but UF is a very traditional school and the top houses will always remain strong. It's hard to fall down at UF in terms of Greek standings.
