pnms!!! going greek isn't mandatory

by: ehh

Going Greek isn't for everyone. I was super involved in high school activities before college! Participated in every club you could imagine, and also held positions in at least half. I was senior class president, blah blah blah. I rushed this past Fall and am currently in a "top house". But in all reality, it's not all that it's cracked up to be. And no, you don't need to be in a sorority/fraternity to have a great college experience. Do it for the right reasons if you choose to join! Don't feel the need to be join just to be cool just and have the letters in your bio's on social media. You will have an amazing experience at UF regardless of whatever you do!!!! Make the most of it.

I was in a "top house" for 4 years at UF and I will say that my sorority experience really enhanced my overall experience at UF. It is not for everyone and some people join the wrong house for them. I almost dropped my freshman year but i came to realize later that it would have been a huge mistake. You should at least give it a try and see how you like it. I do agree that you can still have a wonderful college experience without being Greek but it gave back to me more than I ever expected.

If you're considering going Greek, even if you aren't sure, rush during your freshman year. You'll have an easier time at rush, you'll be the same age as the majority of your pledge class, and if things don't work out, you have the option to rush again in your sophomore year. Plus, should you find out Greek life isn't for you, you'll have more time to to try other orgs
