rushing sorority as a senior
by: What to doHas anyone successfully rushed as a senior? Not sure if I should just accept a bid for spring right now as a junior from a low tier sorority or try to rush again in the fall as a senior for a sorority I actually want to be in

Person above me, chill. ^ It's ok to want a particular sorority, just understand you will probably not end up there and you should remain open minded. I say go through formal recruitment because it will give you a better idea of what each house is like. Who cares if you're a senior, just do what you want to do.

Most sororities will bid younger PMNs and might be reluctant to offer a bid to a senior. Some people might correct me, but I have never heard of a senior getting a bid to an established house. I know GPhi offered bids to seniors while colonizing at UF and I am sure Alpha Phi will too in the Fall. But if you are holding out hope for a top tier house, I don't think it will happen for you. Visit the houses that are offering spring rush. I think you would really enjoy spending three semesters in a chapter rather than just two.

I've spoke to make girls in various chapters and I've heard of seniors getting bids from houses like DDD, DG, and Phi Mu. I wouldn't hold out for fall if I knew I had no chance of getting a bid from a middle or top tier house. I think I have a shot even if it's slim. I don't want to pledge a chapter I'm not feeling a connection to just because I think it's my only chance at joining a sorority. Spring rush seems like it's more based off who you know and what connections you have to a house than really being a good fit for the chapter..
