sorority recruitment as a junior
by: Junior TransferThere's a possibility I'll be transferring to UF in the fall as a junior, and I was wondering how difficult it is to join/get a bid to sorority as an upperclassman. Right now I'm a student athlete at a Div. 1 school and while I would've loved to join a sorority sooner, it just hasn't been possible. I won't be doing athletics at UF, so I'd love to finally be able to go greek. Thank you!

I rushed as a junior and I only lasted two rounds. I think it might have had something to do with my age but I also think it had to do with my weight. I'm not heavy but I'm not as skinny as I used to be and my face is a little chubby. I think I might have been able to get into a middle house as a freshman but I missed my chance cause I wasn't interested back then. It depends honestly. If you're skinny and pretty and/or had impressive involvement (which it sounds like you did) you might have better luck. But the whole recruitment process is very superficial so be prepared.

I rushed as a junior transfer and I was definitely very nervous (like Well, I was older and not thin as a rail) BUT it worked out fine! I had houses I was happy with all throughout the process and I'm so glad I put my fear of rejection aside to have the experience of recruitment and joining a chapter, I'm sure you will do fine!

This paints a very rosy picture, but to be honest being an upperclassmen does make rush a little more challenging for most. If you have an open mind though and carry yourself confidently, that goes a long way.
