I don't know if upperclassmen really come on here, but does anyone have any advice about feeling like you want to drop your chapter? Is it normal to be kind of over the whole sorority scene as you get older? It's not that I don't like my chapter but I'm starting to feel like the money and time isn't worth it, or could be used for other things

The one thing to keep in mind is that handing in your pin means saying goodbye to the alumnae benefits. I think many chapters have a "senior status" that is supposed to be reduced dues and responsibilities because what you're feeling is really common. There's a lot to membership that is beneficial after school and having dropped in college may mean you cant transition from being a collegiate member in good standing to an alumna in good standing. Just something to consider.

Can't you just go undergrad alum? You still get the benefits of alumni status without paying for another semester or two.

But srsly, what are the alumnae benefits?

I don't need to join the alumnae chapter (all old ladies). I can just tell someone I was in ??? Sorority, it's not like they're going to ask for proof. And yes, I was initiated, so I know the secrets. Not like I'm going to post them...though they are already on the Internet!

Networking...when u have a daughter/family friend/niece who hears u were in XYZ and want a rec, the truth will come out...when u r older u may wish u made a different choice and want to be in an alum chapter...you will not be invited back to your old chapter for alum events...you made a commitment and a promise, why not just fulfill it.
