rushing as junior after dropping?

by:

Is it bad to rush as a junior after dropping the bid I got this year as a sophomore? Or more specifically, does dropping a bid the previous year hurt your chances of getting a house this year? The house I got was not for me at all but I still really want to be in a sorority. I know I can't do spring rush but do you think the fact I dropped my first bid and am a junior would make it impossible to get a bid? I know some juniors that thrived and got many houses but will the fact I dropped my bid this year hurt my chances?

As each year goes by your odds for getting a bid get harder. So while no, dropping a bid now and rerushing as a junior won't make things impossible, your better chance was this year.

I don't understand why you didn't give your house a chance. It's really annoying when you see girls re rush year after year as if they think that houses don't know how many times they've rushed. It looks like you are not committed and it's very risky for a house to take someone who has dropped after bid day because they don't want the same thing happening to them.

I never liked my house all through rush, never clicked, honestly hoped they were gonna drop me before prefs. Went to bid day and tried to give it a chance, ended up going home and crying because I knew I hated the sorority, so I wasn't gonna pay 3k a semester for a house I hated

If it doesn't work out, APhi is coming next year so you could try that. But if you rushed as a sophomore then you probably saw how much harder it was for sophomores than freshman. It's that much worse for juniors.

Do it! But definitely get involved in other organizations while you are here this year because there is so much more than greek life to do at UF.. Every sorority takes juniors, some more than others- if they see that you are a good fit they will make sure that you will be in, even as a junior.
