how many get dropped after preferential?

Second of all, not positive, but pretty sure you would have been called by your pi chis already

The only way someone would be dropped is if they "suicided" and did not maximum options. If the chapter they chose to "suicide" for did not have them high enough on the bid lists, they could be dropped (maybe someone else would snap bid them).

Pretty sure this isn't fully accurate since a few friends of mine got calls that they've been dropped

Maybe they didn't fully suicide, but instead only listed 2 of 3 options? That's one way to get the dreaded call.

Options have to be maximized in order to insure you receive a bid. If you preffed at 3 houses but only listed 1 or 2 (or preffed two houses and only listed one), you might get a call that you have been dropped. Keep an open mind and see if any houses you liked are holding COB, check out Sigma Phi Lamba, Theta Alpha or if you are a student in CALS Sigma Alpha. There are lots of possibilities open to you inside and outside the Panhellenic system...get involved in what interests you!

If you spent an excessive amount than maybe you aren't showing your true self. Hope you enjoy whatever sisterhood you match with cuz maybe you did not show your true self through recruitment.
