i suicided my house after another PNM told me about it. i am a fall 13, and when i went to preference after prefs, i knew i would rather not be in a sorority than get a bid from one of my two options. the guy who helped me preference was no a pi chi (clearly) and asked if i was absolutely sure, and i said yes. i got a bid the next day!
however, not putting down all of your houses doesn't maximize your options for getting a bid. if you play "fair" and put down every house you pref at, you are guarunteed a bid from one of them.

I dont know if this is an actual ADPI or what, but everytime suiciding comes up here, there is this message from this "ADPI" saying how well it worked for them. PNMs rushing ADPI: feel free to suicide, but if you get dropped and end up GDI, just know that afterward you will be haunted by wondering if you might have been a quota addition or if you might have liked your other choices, if only you had maximized your options.

I know more that one girl who suicided and rushed GDI because of it. I almost suicided but decided not to and ended up at my top choice anyway. If you hate the house you end up with give it a try and drop after. It'll suck for the chapter but either way you'll have ended up a GDI. Why not just drop later?

I suicided. It worked out, and I got the chapter I wanted.
However, I can't stress what a risky, stupid choice this was. I am not in any way more of a member than another sister who picked my house as her third choice, "just to giveI have no more loyalty or privileges than any other sister.
I would have been devastated if I had been alone on bid day.

You truly have a better chance if you don't suicide. your #1 choice doesn't know if you suicided them or not and tbh they don't care. Also, if you don't suicide, you have the opportunity to be a quota addition to your #1 choice. If you don't get a bid from any of your houses, you are automatically added to your top choice.
Also, I suicided and it didn't work out for me. I was devastated.

Just because it worked for you doesnt mean it will work out for everyone. Putting only one house doesn't do anything to increase your odds of getting it. In fact it can lower it, because if you aren't high enough of the bid list you are simply out...with no second bite at the apple by possibly being added as an addition.
To be clear, the computer will NOT move on to any other 2nd or 3rd options unless your 1st is filled to quota with girls they wanted more than you. If you max your options and get your 2nd or 3rd choice, it does NOT mean that they pulled you from your 1st. It means that if you had suicided, you would have been dropped entirely and that you were not match to your 1st choice!
IF you dont match with any choice and you maximized your options, Pan doesn't want you bidless after playing "fair," so they can put you in your first choice as an addition. Like a reward for NOT suiciding and keeping your options open.
So why would anyone suicide??? You do NOT increase your chances for your 1st choice (the computer doesn't care about your show of loyalty to your 1st choice), AND u actually lower your chances by ruling out being a possible addition.
If you max your options & don't match your 1st, instead of being dropped entirely, if you get a bid elsewhere, the power is back in your hands regarding whether or not you accept it.
