how does it work

by: Wirried

So there will be steep cuts tonight. How does it work? Do all 17 have to drop the same number so all the parties have the same number tomorrow? Or do top houses cut more and have fewer people coming to R3 and bottom houses cut less but have parties every round with more people? Does pan decide this based on how many people pick certain houses? It can't be a straight number across the board can it? The lower houses would not have enough right? How did KD mess this up last year?

Pan sets the cuts per house and the top houses usually have to cut more because they have higher return rates. Last year, KD did not make quota on bid day. The reason is that many PNMs selected other houses over KD at prefs. They then had to give snap bids to girls that were released from recruitment in eRlier rounds.

So that means a top house may only be allowed to invite say 600 girls back to R3 but a bottom can invite say 1000. Are the actual parties the same size with bottom houses having more parties or does everyone have the same number of parties but the top house parties have fewer girls each party

The top hours cut more and the bottom houses invite more back with the understanding that many of those girls will cut them so the # of girls going back is more even.

Harambae didn't want it to end this way. If only there were more time for this bigger than life figure. His actions went unappreciated. He polled at 5% in the US presidential polls after he died. He was a legend.
Harambae all of us at pan knew you were great. We can only hope to be half of what you were.

A lot of legacies will be cut this round

I went through rush last year. Im a KD legacy x3 (mom, aunt, gma). I felt like I really connected with the girls I met and I was told that I would be a wonderful addition to the house. I was told that they really hoped to see me back.
They cut me after round 2. I was heartbroken. I called my mom and cried my eyes out. I was so confused, so sad, and so hurt. I wanted to drop out of rush. I could try again in the spring or this year.
My mom convinced me to go R3 and then drop out if I still felt the same way. I went to 6 houses, including 2 that I had dropped. I can't begin to say how happy I am that i did. I met some of the nicest girls at R3. I thought I was still going to drop and try KD later. Then, at one of the houses that I dropped, I met some girls that were like my best friends. I actually forgot I was rushing when I was with them.
Then I had to chose. Should I drop? Should I chose the houses that are considered "top tier"? If l chose a "lower tier" house would it be a detrimental to my social life?
I took a risk and listed the house I dropped earlier as my #1. They offered me a bid. I cannot begin to explain how smart of a decision I made. No other decision that I made my freshman year impacted me as much! My sorority is my Gainesville family, my support, my friends for life.
I'm thankful that KD cut me. I'm thankful that my mom convinced me to go to one more round. I can't imagine how different my life would be without my Sisters.

This is a great story and a wonderful encouragement to PNMs who are worried about being dropped by top tier. It is also an excellent reminder to see the process thru. The first 2 rounds are very superficial. The truer picture begins tomorrow.

BTW, an aunt does not count as legacy status, only Mom, GMA, sister..

So if pan tells the chapters how many to release based on number of girls wanting to return then KD was just following that right? They didn't choose on their own to cut that many?
