"bottom" tier issue

by:

So I'm really trying to go through recruitment with an open mind, but I can't help but be somewhat concerned to go to a "bottom" tier sorority. I don't think they aren't worthy or are bad or anything, but I'm honestly just worried about how the rest of campus will perceive me and my sorority because as hard as I try that kind of thing bothers me. Do people look down on "bottom" sororities in real life? I don't want to be closed minded in thinking I don't want to go to one, but I would feel uncomfortable walking around campus in letters that would looked down upon (even if they shouldn't be). What is it actually like? And please don't take this the wrong way, I mean no hate toward the sororities thought to be bottom tier, I am just curious as to what it's like.

I'm in a bottom tier house. When I was in the initiation process I was told by fellow high school friends that were older and in Greek life to drop out and try again because I "deserved" and "could do" better. I stayed. I loved the friends I made and most importantly felt comfortable in my house. I don't picture myself anywhere else and hell I wear letters whenever I feel like it. If someone is going to look down on you because of your letters, they are not worth your time. Go to the house with sisters and values that inspire you. College isn't about impressing others, it's about discovering yourself and finding true inner happiness (cliche but true). I hope this helps you and I hope you find your perfect house. I love that you're staying open minded and shows you have an excellent head on your shoulders. In a couple days you'll meet your future big and sisters so get excited!!!!

I am in an upper mid house. Honestly, other than this site, NOBODY cares. Everyone I know does not think differently of anyone because of their letters. Go where you feel comfortable and will make the most friends!

If you are invited to be in any house at UF you are top tier of the population! Think about your HS class rank- if you had 500 people in your graduating class and you finished anywhere in the top 17, it was great right? It would be nice to be ranked 1 or 2 but top 17 still made you elite. Trust me outside of this site and maybe rush week and bid day no one cares what letters you are wearing

life isn't like this website. I have friends all over. I study with zetas, I work out with sigma kappas, I live with aopis, my lab partner was an aephi, and my best friend is a kappa. No one will treat you differently or look down upon you. tiers literally don't exist here.

I'm in a 'bottom tier' chapter and some of my best friends (guys and girls) are all in alllll of the tiers. I had the same problem when I first joined (afraid of what people would think of me) and almost didn't join because of it, but I'm so glad I stayed! I've met some amazing people in my chapter and it allowed me to branch out:)

I am in Deeph, roommate and close friend in AEPHI, two really close friends in DDD and DG. Nobody judges or cares and I wouldn't want to hang out with anyone who did.
