my daughter is rushing

by: PNM Mom

My daughter is rushing at UF. I was in a UF sorority that you all call Top Tier.

I will be sooo upset if my sorority drops my daughter.

So, before you drop that legacy, think about it!

The fact that people actually replied thinking that this is real and don’t realize this is a total troll post. lol

But apparently there is some truth to it from a few years ago based on the comments from the KD’s!

I graduated from UF, let’s just say, a while ago. My mom was in what is now a middle-tiered sorority and she was devastated when I chose not to go that route. I didn’t want to put that same pressure on my daughter who is now in a completely different “top-tier” sorority. I wanted her to choose girls who she felt the most comfortable with because, in the end, the sisterhood is all that matters. I know she made the right choice because I know how much she loves her sorority. She is truly happy where she is and that is all we could ever hope for for our daughters. Five of my 8 bridesmaids were sorority sisters and we are still dear friends to this day. We had some of the best times (and not so great times) at UF that we love to reminisce about. I’m sure you want your daughter to have the same experiences and memories that you had, but that’s not going to happen even if she chooses the same sorority. It’s a whole new group of girls in a whole different collegiate culture at UF. Our time has come and gone. Enjoy the memories you made, but give your daughter and your sorority the freedom to choose what is best for everyone involved.

Another UF Alum. My daughter just got accepted into UF and she is going to rush. I would love her to join my house( top tier) and of course I will let them now she is a legacy. I am not going to put any pressure in her to join my house. If she wants to and like my house that is fine. Sororities girls can be cliches and I want her to feel comfortable. What was a good house 25 years ago may not be good now. Look at DG great house when I was I. In school not now. Pi phi And do not even around when I was in school now. Good houses at UF. Some really nice girls in aoii, adpi, xo, kd, phi mu. Please do not force your affiliation on your daughter.Rush has really changed on what I have heard and it is so competitive. This is bad and causes so much stress in the girls. So cut throat. My house does consider legacies but there is no guarantee. Too many legacies rushing these days and very competitive.

If you were in Adpi we certainly give legacies preference. Especially Gamma iota legacies. Adpi still is the top house at UT and still are extremely selective. If you daughter is a fit she she have no problem at Adpi!

Legacies should be considers first. IN my house even gives legacies first choice to live in the house or not. I understand the person has to be a fit. We have so many legacies that some have to be cut. Third generation legacies are really special.
