social life after dropping

by:

i dropped from my sorority last semester and was wondering if i will see a change in being able to go to tailgates/fraternity parties this year? i want to still go to things like this but i feel like they are more exclusive to sorority girls (and specific sororities.) all opinions welcome...

just curious, why did you drop?

I had a pretty rough rush week trying to adapt to being homesick and on my own which took a toll on how i acted/made an impression during rush and i ended up on my second choice's (out of my final three houses in pref round) lawn at bid day and thought i would grow to love it as much as my first choice after the new member period and initiation. i had moments of course where i liked it, but i never clicked with a solid group of girls and so many girls in my sorority had a certain group of friends, and i felt isolated a lot because i didn't really find that. i found it really hard to fully feel at home because it was my second choice and i just kept wondering how it would've been at my first choice/why they didn't want me. the girls in my house were super nice and made me feel welcomed but as the newness wore off i just realized how awkward i felt not having a group or many close friends. in the end i think it was just down to the fact that i saw a huge difference in the way i felt about my first choice vs my second choice during rush and my second choice just never gave me that "feeling" of it being my perfect fit ): I just wish i didn't go through with initiation and acted on my urge to drop before that so i could have rushed again as i am in such a better, more comfortable and confident place now and can see myself in so many other sororities

Is it possible for you to rejoin? Are you interested in that option? Because I know the feeling you're talking about. The sorority I joined, a lot of people were from the same hometowns and already knew each other but I was from out of state. And honestly I didn't find my "fit" until half way through spring semester. That's normal. I think that one thing that really held you back from connecting with girls in your sorority is your reoccurring thoughts of what it would've been like in your #1 choice, instead of really diving into the house that really really wanted you to be a part of their sisterhood.

you'll be fine for tailgating. to get into a tailgate you just have to be a girl they don't care if you're in a sorority haha. As for parties you obviously can't go to socials or anything but frats do have those big open parties every so often. Also stuff for holidays ya know.
