I'm a sophomore in one of the top tiers.
I am seriously thinking of dropping.
My house have been stalking PNM's on social media, tearing them apart based on looks, clothes. who they are friends with; you name it!
It got back to me that if I wasn't in XYZ, my friend wouldn't have a shot because she isn't cute. My friend is the nicest, sweetest person and I am heartbroken and disgusted. I'm sure I was subject to this level of scrutiny, and this is so not me.

I really hope this isn't true or isn't common... This is one of my biggest fears as a PNM. I promise I'm fun and have great friends, I just don't post on social media much so you wouldn't think so by judging from it. I don't have tons of likes and followers and cute pictures because honestly I just don't go on much it's not my thing. I wish people would wait to meet a girl before they judge.

I know OP as she told me about this post, and as a member of another top house, this happens in EVERY sorority.
Maybe not to that extent, but we do check out social media. To the person above, do not be afraid, once you walk through the door, your social media becomes unimportant.
Rarely are people blacklisted unless they post something blatantly inappropriate. The top houses do tend to be more selective based on looks, (that is the sad reality) but if you have an outstanding personality with other qualities, you have no worries. The mid and low houses have awesome girls as well, and honestly are less superficial.
More often we find girls we really want rather than do not want. The whole superficialness of rush does $uck, but it works out in the end.

I am in ZTA. Of course we judge what you look like. We also look at what you post on social media. That is a given. If we do not like what we see, you will be dropped. Rush is hard and can be frustrating, but so worth it in the end. You are also judged on your personality. It is the whole package. Some make the cut, some do not. That is life.

tbh I don't understand the DZ thing right now. They have always been ranked above deeph and xo. They have homecoming with KA. Usually I see the problem when they try and place themselves above theta, but to say xo is above them is ridiculous.

We are told not to, but do it behind closed doors. I am in THE top house (the one with the nicest reputation), and it saddens me how superficial rush is.
With that said, the sad reality is women are always judged on looks, poise and grace whether we like it or not. The top tiers are more selective, but that doesn't mean we don't take attractive women who also happen to be true sweethearts.
So if we see a beautiful girl on social media, we will take notice but then she had to prove her worth as a person. Unlike the other top house who is known for judging solely on looks.
