in need of advice

by: Help

I'm going through recruitment this year and I'm usually pretty confident but I've been worrying a lot lately because of acne issues. It's something I've struggled with for a while and I've tried so many different things and it never really goes away completely. It's not severe or anything, just a few breakouts but I feel like clear skin is so essential to looking your best and I'm trying to get my skin as clear as possible before recruitment time. I do the obvious stuff like wash my face, drink water, etc but can anyone on here give me some tips or tricks that work for you? Or even any dermatologists treatments you get done/ medicine you take? A lot of my friends did accutane but I don't want to resort to that because like I said it's not severe. Thanks!

How about being yourself and not putting so much value into getting into a Greek organization if you really think they're such low quality people that they would deny you a bid for something as unpredictable as acne?

Lol I knew I'd get a comment like this. I asked for advice, not your opinion about me. I just want to be as confident as possible and NEVER said I thought I wouldn't get a bid because of it. Did you misread my post? Is it a crime to want clear skin? Lighten up, thanks.

I swear people like that troll Greek rank ^^^^ I understand your concern because regardless of what people say appearance does matter even though some people are in denial about that. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be more confident :) And acne sucks to deal with. I get regular facials from a spa near my house and they really help. I go about once a month, would highly recommend!

I understand your problem because I struggled with the same. and I tried all regular treatments from the dermatologist but nothing really worked perfectly. I am throwing this out there, because in the end it was the only thing that finally worked for me and it wasn't the typical treatment...and that was getting on the pill. If you find your acne is hormonal and flares up mostly at certain, regular times, it might help.

I'm not trolling though. I'm dead serious. I get that you're asking for advice, and my advice is be yourself and just go through the process. Acne, especially in the small quantities like you're describing, is not going to be a big deal. But no, it's not a crime to want clear skin - I just think it's a little concerning that you ask about it to Greekrank because you think it's a hindrance. I don't see why you would want to be in a group of people that you perceive as the type to devalue a fellow woman because of a small flaw in their physical appearance. I guess my point and my new advice would be: change your perception, we look for more than what you're concerned about.

I'll also add that I'm sure you're beautiful, especially since you pay attention to your self-maintenance. I'm sure you'll have no problems in rush with regards to your looks.

I don't necessarily think I will be devalued because of it, I just think I would feel better about myself if I had more control of it. Honestly the only reason I asked about it on here is because I'm sure a lot of girls my age come on here with similar issues and maybe they could help. But I see your point, I probably do worry about more than I should...tbh scrolling through the tumblrs hasn't helped since everyone is so gorgeous lol. and thank you that's nice of you to say!

I have really clear skin and I used to have bad acne.

I use epiduo at night, and mario badescu products when I wash my face in the morning and night (acne facial cleanser and glycolic foaming cleanser). I also use toner and moistuirzer, and I take off all my makeup at night (a lot of my friends don't do this and always complain about their acne??) and then I use a drying lotion/spot treatment to treat a pimple should one break through and it usually goes away in a day.
