recruitment questions

Do you know which houses dropped you? Do sororities see which houses dropped you or which ones are on your list? What was everyone's experience with being dropped/dropping? Like is it pretty much what you expected or were you really surprised, good or bad?

So here is how it works:
After a round is over, you go and preference. Let's say its the end of round 3, and you had 7 chapters (a full schedule) and have to preference down to 3 for prefs. (I am doing round 3 because it's the smallest list, this applies for every preferencing rounds 1-3) You pick the 3 you want and place them on a list in no particular order, and then rank the remaining 4 in the order of liking the most(1) to the least(4). For example:
I want to return to chapters A, B, and C in no particular order.
I do not want to return to chapters D, E, F, or G. I rank them as:
1. D
2. E
3. F
4. G
D being the chapter I like the most on that list, and G being the one I like the least.
I get my schedule the next day, and it has A B and C on it. None of those chapters dropped me, and I have no clue about the remaining 4.
OR my schedule may read A B D. So C dropped me, and D moves up onto my list if they kept me. No clue about E, F, or G.
OR my schedule may read A B E. So C and D dropped me, E moves up onto my list, no clue about F or G.
OR my schedule may read G. So A B C D E and F dropped me, and G kept me so that is the only party I attend.

So you don't get a list of all the chapters that dropped you, but you can kind of figure it out based on your schedule.

Sororities know nothing about your other houses unless you tell them. They only know if you are returning to their house for that specific party.

As for being dropped personally, I mostly saw it coming when it did happen. Round 1 was probably the most out of the blue because I had friendly, normal conversations but so does everyone, but I wasn't attached at that point so I didn't really care. Round 2 I didn't really get dropped, and Round 3 I got dropped by two houses I considered to be my favorites at that point, but walked out of Round 3 thinking "wow, that was awkward, I'm so not going back" and I was fine with it because I ended up loving my current house round 3 and was pretty set on them from there on out so I didn't care about the others.

round 1 is the worsttttttttttt. do NOT start to feel bad about yourself because of the houses you have left. i have friends who had very few that day and some who had full schedules. like she said above, i had the best conversations in some houses and was like wow i loved that girl! and then got dropped. i literally had the worst conversations in some houses, and got called back. keep an open mind the entire time and you will have the best experience. do not judge your schedule/remaining houses, etc. by the girls under your tent, your friends experiences, etc. and even if you do not get what you want on bid day, go to the party anyhow and give it a few weeks.

y'all are so helpful! Thank you! What I don't understand is why they drop after the first day. Like what's the criteria? How does it work? You only talked to this girl for 10 minutes right?

thats what sucks...its based on a ten minute conversation. you are in and you are out. believe it or not, although you are not getting the girls whole life story and really getting to know her, you can get her vibe, etc. be positive and happy to be in every house you enter. ask questions if you have them. or just talk and get to know the girl who is recruiting you! don't count anyone or anything out because there is a big possibility you will be there again

do you "rate" houses after the first round 2?

Lowkey confused by this question. Are you asking about the rounds where you have two days, like round 1 and round 2? Because if so, you only preference/rank/whatever after the entire round is over. So after round 2 day 1, you just go home. Or to convocation this year, I believe. There is a schedule on UF Panhellenic's website and it includes preferencing so you know exactly when you will be doing this.
