rush sophomore year

by: me

since I decided to drop this year during rush, is it weird to rush again sophomore year to see if I can get better bids? I just didn't feel a connection with the houses I got into. also what is informal fall rush and how does it work?

tons of sophomores rushed this year and were way happier with their outcomes than freshman year, but a lot get the same they did freshman year, then they either drop again, or are more open to what those organizations have to offer. It's not out of the question and its totally a thing. The houses you dropped may want you again depending how early on you dropped, additionally, since so few girls went through recruitment the past two years, some chapters might do small spring COB periods. COB is an option only if you dropped BEFORE signing a preference card, fall COB is much more relaxed than formal recruitment, there's one open house with all the sororities and from there each sorority has its own process, they may have invite only events or another open house and then invite only it depends. Keep in mind that only some sororities do it, this year only 4 of them did and one of those 4 did a borderline secret, invite only process, they didn't even show up to the all sorority open house. COBing is a great option because you can really get to know people, but its more limiting than formal. I'd say keep an eye out for COB events, ask your friends in sororities if their chapter will COB, you can always go to a few open houses and if you decide its not for you, by all means wait till the next formal recruitment period.
