honest discussion of each fraternity and rankings.
by: AdderallGotTheBestOfMe
First off I want to start off by saying that I am a 4th year at KSU. I've seen the campuses fraternity rankings fluctuate year by year, so I think I have a pretty good grasp on where each fraternity ranks in the grand scheme of things. I'm going to try to be as honest as I can with these rankings. I will also say that I am in a fraternity, but not one of the ones I say to be "Top Tier". Im going to post the rankings, and then give a description of why I think each fraternity is where it is, in my opinion.
Top:
Kappa Sigma
Pi Kappa Alpha
Upper Mid:
Pi Kappa Phi
Kappa Alpha Order
Mid:
Theta Chi
Delta Chi
Sigma Nu
Lower Mid:
Delta Sigma Phi
Sigma Alpha Epsilon
Bottom:
Delta Tau Delta
Not even in the same ballpark:
Sigma Pi
Tau Kappa Epsilon
Kappa Sigma- Honestly, they came back really strong from their suspension from campus 2-3 years ago. Big chapter size, with some quality guys. They party pretty well, except for when they try to book Travis Porter (I never got my money refunded which is bs...). The worst thing that could have happened to this chapter was the merger with SPSU chapter, because lets be honest those guys are weird. Yet, their KSU chapter really outweighed the negative of having to do that merger.

Kappa Alpha Order- This one honestly surprised me but these guys have made improvement from where they were 2 years ago. Had a few weird guys in their founders, specifically their "pledge class" from two falls ago. From what I hear, they seem to be pretty respectable as guys but they really don't do ANYTHING on campus EVER. I assume they have a pretty good brotherhood because its a smaller group, and they do alot of event with just themselves. From the parties I've been to, they were fun but not ragers. Their name carries alot of weight. Synopsis, good but I don't even think they're making an to try and be great.
Theta Chi- I knew these guys before they got kicked off campus, and the best way to describe them is that they are a shell of their old selves. Their name here at KSU carries alot of weight, because they're the oldest fraternity at KSU. They used to be Top tier without a doubt, but they're coming back on campus probably in ways that they shouldn't. Their most recent pledge class was 40-50 deep, but man did they take some sketch kids. I think it is inevitable that they're going to make it back to the Top because everyone knows who they used to be, which is going to attract potentials. I put them in the Middle tier rather than the Upper Middle because they're definitely still in the process of coming back on campus. It isn't just a one semester type deal. Synopsis, shell of who they used to be, has a high potential to move up the ranks.

Delta Chi- They're where they are in the rankings because they aren't a bad group of guys. Small chapter, but I'm almost positive that's because they want it to be that way. Seem to have tight brotherhood as a result of this. I don't think I have ever heard of a crazy party they've thrown. Yet, they do have a pretty decent quality of brothers and from what I can tell they're pretty humble/respectable.
Sigma Nu- The most respectable fraternity from the SPSU merger by a landslide. I personally would describe them as try-hards though. I guess the only thing I really can say about them, is that they aren't goobers like the other SPSU chapters.
Delta Sigma Phi- Still a colony, but easily better then the other chapters below them. Their brothers seem to be respectable, but I honestly cringe when I see them because pretty much all of the ones I've met were pretty socially awkward/strange. I'll give them credit where it is due though, they are at least making a great effort of portraying the Gentlemen aspect that fraternities strive for.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon- Honestly, I really don't know anything about these guys. Delt is below them because they're going to be kicked off campus and there is no possible way that SAE could be worse than Sigma Pi or TKE...
Sigma Pi- A collection of about 10-15 goobers. The only way this chapter doesn't fold, is if they keep bidding up the goobers that go through rush, which I completely see them doing. Synopsis, bottom tier and will stay there.

This made sense too but I'd switch SAE and SN. And as much as these SN's are gonna call me out for being an SAE I really don't care anymore. SN's seemed like try hards and general nerdy tools to me. They haven't done much of note really and at least SAE had that party with DX that got huge on holloween.
Coming from someone who's been here 3 years Holloween is always the craziest night of fall.. Kappa Sig took it last year the Delts took it before that and Pi Kapp had their tech excursion on Halloween one night and it was lit. All the Top fraternities make their names on holloween and SAE and DX took that this year. Respect.

Delta Tau Delta- I forgot to post about this one. I think we all know Delts were top tier. I feel bad for them that they got kicked off over an anonymous twitter feed and someone really trying to screw them over. That being said, it still doesn't excuse what was posted about the peeing on girls thing. C'mon y'all, where is the higher standards that your supposed to hold each other accountable to.

Theta Chi did not have a 40 to 50 person pledge class. It was more like 25-30 and then they handed a bunch of under the table bids to kids who didn't have the grades. Most of them were very weird I'll agree with that but they also had like 10 drop and they balled about 4 guys. A lot of good guys in the pledge class but also a lot of really bad quality guys I'd expect to go D-Sig SN or DX.
