sorority question
by: sororitySo if I join a sorority and go through bid day and initiation but end up not liking my sorority for ‘xyz’ can I drop and join another organization later on? A friend of mine said no but another friend said yes but there’s a waiting period if you move to another campus. I’m just worried I won’t like where I end up. I’ve read a lot of stuff about that happening. :/

Why do you think you’re going to drop? If you’re planning on transferring then you can reaffiliate (Join XYZ sorority) there anyways. If you think you’re going to drop don’t waste your time & money going through & don’t waste theirs. After you initiate you CAN NOT join another NPC sorority even if you move across the country. The good news is that if you end up going to bid day and everything but dropping before initiation you can go through recruitment again the next year, if it’s the same school it can be awkward because you have to attend all the parties but if you really want to join it shouldn’t matter. But don’t go into recruitment with the mindset of dropping because that’s really unfair to the chapter you end up in that spent so much time preparing for your arrival. How do you know you’re not going to the like the girls when you don’t even have an idea who your getting a bid from? Especially if you haven’t even been through recruitment?

I’ve just heard horror stories of girls joining a sorority and they ended up not fitting in where they went. My sister included — she’s actually really against me rushing because her experience after 4 years with her sorority was pretty awful. She just said the girls were fake, mean, catty, and ultimately she felt like she didn’t belong there. She stayed but she said she wish she had went to another sorority.,she said things are great during recruitment and Bid day but then girls get cliquey and start showing their true colors.
