by:

what are the main reasons girls get cut during recruitment? i know gpa is the main thing but is there anything else? and on what days do the cuts usually occur (sisterhood day, philanthropy, etc) ?

Google can tell you what you’ll be ranked on. (: All sororities have different processes but are ultimately the same. The most cuts are probably after philanthropy day because the first day (Sisterhood) you have 7, then the next day (Philanthropy) you can have UP to 5 but you may not have that many, then after philanthropy (Preference) you go down to 2 so that’s probably the most nerve wracking day when it comes to cuts because if you have 5 you really may not know which 2 you’ll end up with oh and right before bid day too.

Ohh ok thank u! Is it possible to only have 1 house left after philanthropy? If so, would u still even get a bid?

Yeah it’s possible but don’t stress out because if you have 4 or 5 or even 3 - t’s way more than likely that you’ll get at least 2 houses that want you back. If you only have 1, which sometimes happens and is completely okay, just don’t blow the conversation. Some people suicide bid intentionally and that’s a whole different story on likelihood of bids. DO. NOT. Suicide. Bid.

Every sorority is different but in general: how your conversation goes with the girl(s) you talk to. Your extracurriculars and how involved you were in high school. GPA. And i hate to say it, but sororities will cut you if you don’t fit their standards of pretty. It all depends on who you talk to.

Ok thank u! But is it possible to only have one house left after philanthropy or do most girls have 2? I heard almost every girl gets a bid

It’s possible but you’ll more than likely get a bid if that occurs as long as you can hold a conversation and look presentable. You really have to blow it (talk about the wrong things, be rude, look like you came straight out of bed, poor gpa, or whatever) to not get a bid. It’s harder to not get a bid than it is to get one.

@Hiii JUST WONDERING, But do u know which houses don’t have a problem taking sophomores? Which house would a sophomore in my situation most likely end up being in? I’m happy with any chapter so popularity or anything isn’t really a big deal to me

All houses will take sophomores. But some are more selective on how many they take. (:
From what I have seen.... (Correct me if I’m wrong)
Phi Mu & Delta Phi Epsilon are pretty selective on how many sophomores they take. Kappa Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, and Gamma Phi will take a decent amount. Zeta and Alpha Xi will take a good amount because they are relatively newer sororities (Hence why they do Spring recruitment. It’s NOT because they’re “worse” compared to other sororities, seriously all are amazing women here. It’s because they’re newer so they need the numbers to help their chapters grow (: )

Ohh okay!!! Thank you!! If my gpa is really good like 3.5 or higher by the end of the semester..(rn I have a 4.0 but idk what it will be after finals) would that put me in a good place with the sororities that are selective about sophomores? I’d be happy with sorority, I’m just curious!!

Phi Mu is VERY selective with grades. Mainly because of their100% retention rate (Every girl that went through recruitment last year wanted them back the next day after Sisterhood rounds). If you’re great at holding conversations with no awkward silences & you’re pretty you will be ok. But if you really want Phi Mu you need to make sure you’re friends with some of the girls in there. Delta Phi was selective last year (They dropped more girls that who actually ended up wanting them back) which ended up having them have to have continuous open bidding (Calling back girls that dropped out of recruitment because they didn’t like the houses that invited them back or whatever).

im sorry disregard continuous open bidding I meant to say snap bids. so if you want DPHIE you probably have a better chance with it this year because theyre probably going to be more cautious. they are a good sorority here at KSU and it could've happened to literally any sorority, it was just an over-estimation.

I’d honestly be happy if I got a bid from any house so it’s sad that girls actually drop. Any tips on what to talk about during that week? Or any tips that will help me get the maximum chapters wanting me back for each day? Ik it’s a couple months away but I’m just already excited about it since I didn’t get to last semester !

Thank you so much for answering all my questions !!! Since registration opens April 9, do I just register then or wait till semester is over so I can get my semester gpa? Also when i register, is it like page with basic questions or Is it a lot ?? I know for some schools, girls actually send a whole resumé. Do girls do that here? And what sorority are u in??

Oh and are rec letters necessary for certain sororities? I heard they’re not a big deal at ksu compared to other schools. Would it make a difference if I didn’t have a rec letter?

No prob. And wait until the semester is over so it's accurate because you dont want them to have a different gpa than what you put. I think when I went through recruitment it was optional to put a resume but highly recommended (so I did). I think they asked about clubs and sports in high school, gpa of course, and if your a legacy. Recruitment isnt that serious here but I got rec letters for the 2 houses I really wanted and they ended up being the houses I preffed so I dont think it hurts if you already know someone but Its definitely not necessary like big southern schools.

Ohh okay. Does it matter if I put on the resume that I wasn’t in clubs or sports? I played softball for a year but it wasn’t for my school. Does your resume weigh a lot during recruitment

AND I apologize I know I’m asking a TON of questions, i just don’t wanna be clueless when I register. What would need to be on my resume? And do I add a picture of myself
