advice from someone who rushed last fall..

by:

So i came to KSU and used this site to rush and got a bid from an "upper mid" frat and i can honestly say im happy i dropped before initiation. I came on here thinking something completely off about the fraternity i rushed on this site and figured out a lot was bogus. now im rushing again next fall to some frats i thought i didnt have a chance for (KS PKA) or those i didnt think of because they were "lower" (SAE DX) but turned out to be fun.

Rush KS PKP DX or SAE if youre looking for something to do every week and be more social at KSU. Also when youre 21 or if you have a fake buckhead is always fun with these guys. All are actually close fraternities and are pretty involved in the community as well.

Also consider KA and SN who are both pretty cool and fun but have a tight knit group since most of their brothers are coupled up. Good brotherhoods and grades for both.

OX PKA DSP and DTD are all good options too socially but focus more on philanthropy than parties. Girls come here to raise money usually. Each also has a pretty big social or two planned that get pretty crazy but expect to be busy studying or fundraising most of the time (I rushed somewhere in this group but dropped).

Join SP TKE and AEPi for close brotherhoods and a tight knit expirience. Cool guys who have their fun too.

Everyone is worth rushing (KSU is pretty boring otherwise). You just have to find where you fit in most! My group ended up being way different than i thought rushing last fall. I have friends in or been to mostly every fraternities events. There are maybe 4 i havent met yet.

THIS IS NOT A RANK. Just pretty much what you can expect from each group.

These are pretty accurate.

Best social frats

KS and PKP: both are the two favorite social frats girls usually gravitate to and both have a party social mixer tailgate concert cabin trip etc like every weekend. They both also have huge philanthropy events and do some things in the community.

SAE DX DTD SP: these are the next best social frats who are usually planning parties tailgates socials or whatever for most of the year. On the rare occasion KS and PKP dont do anything these 3 have something good working. All are also involved in the community and do that when they feel their social lives are lacking. SP is small but are a fun group who are growing at KSU.

Philanthropy frats

PKA OX: people like to label these two as "creeps", but these creeps easily fund raise the most for charity. They also have atleast 1 or 2 socials a year that get pretty good when they let other frats come but outside of that these 2 havent had great social lives.

KA SN DSig AEPi: these 3 are all just as involved as the above two but dont raise as much so they have less community and philanthropy events with sororities then the top 2 but are still great options. They all have average social lives. AEPi is involved but are VERY new and growing.

more advice would be to try and be more confident than shy. everyone has a group of great guys. Even those with a few who arent so great. KSU is growing so be sure you go out and meet as many guy from whatever fraternities you click with first.

Decide what organizations fit your values most. Everyone parties, has philanthropy and community service but as said above each emphasises a different thing.
