another bid

by: junior

So I rushed my sophomore year (this year) and I got a bid to a chapter that I really didn't click with and weren't as nice and accepting as they seemed during recruitment. I left before big/ little and initiation. I still really want to be apart of greek life, I think it's so important. I have a 4.0, a good job, lots of volunteer work and internships under my belt, and a few excellent letters of recommendation to various sororities on campus. If I went through rush again as a junior what do you think my odds of getting another bid are?

But youre intentions on why you left your last organisation and wanting to join another were? Was it just that? Most sororities hangout with eachother. Not saying you wont get a bid. You probably would.

I know 100% that it's not like you'll get along great with everyone in your sorority, it's just like any other group dynamic. They made a big deal about calling me the odd one out of the pledge class and nick named me a black (insert sorority mascot) and never used my actual name and just lots of little things that added up to a larger sense of not fitting in. But I left on good terms and still talk to my pledge class so hopefully there wouldn't be bad blood that got spread to other chapters. I have nothing against them at all, I just don't think I was the right fit for their group.

Not saying that you wont get a bid
But going through another rush and having to talk to girls in your ex sorority might be awkward on both ends
And who know what they will say
Not saying you won't get a bid, you might but you might not
Do it if you really want to try and find a new home

A girl in my pi chi group last year did this exact same thing. She rushed as a Sophomore, got a bid, was in that sorority until right before initiation and it just wasn't for her and she dropped. She rushed again as a junior this past year and got a bid from a sorority that she liked a lot more. It's definitely possible.
