what you should know before rush

Kappa Sigma or "Kappa Sig" is next because im going to start to go in descending order of doninance now. (Pi Kapp and Kappa Sig are top two, take your pick on who's better).

Like Pi Kapp and unlike other fraternities further down the list or the negative ones mentioned above, they NEVER team up with other fraternities to throw parties socials or anything. They dont really need to as theyre fraternity is pretty rich and the guys are all very much liked by girls here. Their events always have more girls to guys and they never let anyone outside the fraternity into anything they do.

They throw tons of socials mixers and parties, 80s, sigma stock, sigma sonic, dirty christmas, cinco de drinko, st. Pattys, etc. You always hear about their events from girls whether they tell you in person or you see them on their instagram or snapchat. Other than that youll never hear or see them PR if youre a guy. Its really strange.

Their tailgates formals and semi formals are always talked about and packed as well. Theyre not the type to lay low and stay modest.

Theyre actually pretty cool guys who are more than happy to invite guys they know in other fraternities out to kickbacks, buckhead bar crawls or small things they dont drop cash on. If you have a few in class theyre always the type to help you study and what not.

The only con i have for them is theyre VERY well known for their pledgeship like Pi kapp, OX and DX... I wont say too much more but yeah.

Kappa Alpha or "KA" is next on this list because they pull from good sororities like Phi Mu, AOll and ZTA very regularly on top of having a great name.

Unlike the above two theyre still pretty new only having been at KSU since spring 2014 but have made a pretty good name for themselves. They dont USUALLY team up with other fraternities for their events but have been known to invite small groups of guys from other fraternities to help bring some girls. They usually only throw mixers and some smaller socials outside of their formal. AmeriKA Bash is their biggest social and got fairly lit last year considering they only had brothers attend, fund and PR the event with a fee small exceptions. All in all theyre very close guys who admittedly have some work to do but are very much a dark horse.

Really cool guys who lay low stay modest and arent the type to put themselves in risk of suspension with hazing or other bad things. Always get smaller solid pledge classes for the most part minus last spring and some of their founders.

Grades are decent as well. Made some friends in KS PKP PKA SAE and OX.

Nothing negative to say about them other than being new and not the most relevant when theyre on their own.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon or "SAE" is next simple because theyre name is recognized a lot in the south and theyve made a fair amount of noise these passed 2 years with Delta Chi (next on the list).

Usually these guys smoke tons of weed and throw small kickbacks. The guys arent tools or scumbags really but theyre not known to be the coolest or most involved here at KSU. All in all theyre decent guys who pull decently from various sororities and have risen to become the best fraternity fron southern poly. Theyre well known for their events they throw with Delta Chi whom they seem to be fairly close with.

Not much to say about them other than that. Really only compete with KS PKP PKA and DTD when they throw joint parties and tailgates with Delta Chi (which they hate doing contrary to popular belief).

Some negatives would be that they have some of the worst grades at KSU mostly because the majority of them take tough classes in hard majors at southern poly and maybe smoke a little too much weed. They also have no pledgeship which means they have to initiate guys 3 days after they recieve bids. This hurts them a lot as they cant weed out some of the guys who got bids but maybe shouldnt have.

Delta Chi like SAE isnt very relevant unless they do stuff together, their guys arent scumbags but arent the "coolest' youll meet here either. They pull from the same sororities except DX pulls from top sororities a little bit more.

Unlike SAE DX is well known for their hazing and were suspended in spring 2012 for it. Theyre also into psychedelics and popping pills.

Sigma Nu is a pretty cool chill group of guys at times but at others theyre a little too much. Sort of a mix of some chill/try hard/cool/weird guys. Its hard to explain but after you have a conversation with a few youll know what i mean.

Chill with GPB ZTA and AXiD a lot. Idk what all they do other than some kickbacks and parties. A few mixers. Very involved and win a lot of events.

If youre looking to pad your resumé after college and arent looking to be into partying very much and dont really care too much about mixers and socials this is for you.

Delta Sigma Phi or "Delta Sig" or "D-Sig" is a group of modest chill guys. There are a lot of them and theyre pretty chill. They dont do very much but have stepped it up this year. Theyve only been here since spring 2015 and are starting to create an identity. Not sure what sororities they pull from. They havent really made a lot of noise. If you want something different than everything else ive described and dont want to a part of a smaller more introverted group (will explain that below) then these guys are for you.

SP is super chill group of like 25 guys who are actually starting to hangout with sororities more. Not the coolest guys but theyre very gentlemanly and fun.

TKE is introverted small and chill. Their brotherhood is very close and just genuinely enjoy being around eachother. Chill with some sorority girls and relax.

Id also like to point out that they seem to have more success throwing parties or socials alone than other fraternities do. Hence their ranking, DX SAE KA OX SN PKA DTD all usually allow other fraternities into their parties or socials because they think it will help bring more girls.

The parties DX SAE OX and KA throw PR and fund alone all dont have nearly as much success.

Pi Kapps really the only other fraternity that i know of who has no problems keeping their parties on the DL and having a fair amount of success. Hence their ranking as well.

If you cant throw a decent party on your own i dont think you need to be ranked too highly, which is why i have KA in the top 3. They at least attempt parties on their lonesome and while they have mixed results they manage to keep those parties more relevant than anyone else who does anything alone.

Im just trying to explain my thought process here and defend my thread. Not sure if one comment about a KS party will completely discredit my arguement but whatever haha

Your arguement is invalid.

You just upvoted KA by giving them a perfect rank using the same nickname and a top 3 place when they havent done anything this semester to deserve that.

I can see your arguements on PKP and KS and agree with you on them but KA is not top 3 or anywhere close. Top 6 maybe but thats it.

Just because i gave KA a perfect rank and didnt bother to change my name means im a KA? Do you know how stupid id have to be to be that obvious? No im not a KA KS DX or SAE so keep trying.

sigma nu should be higher they mixed with everyone KS and PKP mixed with and are planning ig things next semester, maybe people don't care as much about hc or greek week but it certainly doesn't hurt that they won both.

SN will eventually rise.

IDK about ATO I've heard rumors but FH i haven't heard anything about. i know KSU is worried SP and TKE won't make it so they're trying to find other fraternities who would be more popular to replace them. IDK if its these two though.
