Whats the typical number of bids given out during rush week by a fraternity and how hard is it to get one?

depends on the fraternity. I would say the average is somewhere a little above 20. Sometimes less.

How hard it is to get a bid also depends on what fraternity you are rushing.

It's pretty hard to get blindsided. KA and Sig Chi have 100% bid policies but other than that if you know the majority of brothers and they seem to like you, you'll probably get a bid.

Pledge classes are usually around 20 though.

What do you mean when you say KA and Sig Chi have 100% bid policies?

The 100% bid policy means that to get a bid, 100% of the brothers have to agree to extend you a bid. So if one brother doesnt like you and says no when they vote on incoming pledges, you wouldn't get a bid. That being said, dont piss off any of the brothers because they could be why you get denied a bid.
