no bid
by: Curious
I went through Fall recruitment this year. My GPA was 4.0. I was very active in high school and held leadership positions. I was released bid day. I was down to two houses that day, Theta and Alpha Chi Omega. I would have been thrilled with a bid from either. I had friends in both.
Without being hateful, could anyone provide some insight as to why I didn't receive a bid?

sorority girls are judgemental, stuck up, conceited and rude. They will pick apart your appearance, what kind of car you drive, what shoes you wore, and how much money your parents make. I'm 100% sure it was due to something superficial and shallow like your looks or something. Most houses are run by awful girls, and rush is a brutal torture. Most of it is WHO you know, simple. They don't care about you, only who you are friends with in the house and what you can give the house. You're much better off.

On preference/bid day most of it comes down to numbers unfortunately and probably wasn't you. If you felt that you really connected with girls in those houses I would recommend doing COB in the spring. Not every house participates in COB but it's a much more laid back version of recruitment and the numbers deal isn't a big concern for COB

You obviously are a GDI who got cut from recruitment. While you want to look put together during recruitment, it is more about your personality. Not once during recruitment was I asked what car I drove, and I wore $15 Target strappy sandals 4/5 days of recruitment. The girls in ALL the houses are genuine and sometimes you don't get a house because perhaps you cut your perfect fit one of the days or the girls just didn't feel a connection. It is better to not be in a house than to be in one and not feel like you belong.
