rushing
by: incoming freshmanI'm really nervous for rush, I know GPA is very important and I'm worried I won't have a chance because I don't have perfect grades. Any advice for how I can explain myself and my GPA in a positive way when I rush?

if you have at least a 3.0 i'd still go through rush in the fall. there are multiple houses who will take girls between a 3.0 and 3.3. i do know a handful of houses cut any girls below 3.7, 3.5, or 3.3, so if you do get cut from a few houses after the first round i wouldn't be discouraged. it's very likely that was the reason you were cut.
if you have your heart set on a more "academic" house or a top house, it may be hard to get into one with a lower GPA. but there are definitely houses that take girls with lower GPAs.
now if you don't have at least a 3.0, i'd recommend going through COB in the spring or rush as a sophomore, so the houses will see your college GPA. i'm not aware of any houses that will take girls below 3.0 hs GPA (correct me if i'm wrong and anyone knows of any that do)

also, i forgot to say--definitely don't bring it up while you're having conversations with the girls--it could make the conversation uncomfortable and it's not something girls discuss during rush parties.
