As a parent, I was concerned when my son decided he wanted to go to a wet house. Since he has been a TKE, he thrived. This year, when they decided to close the house, it was sad for the guys, but for the parents as well. The guys came together and became more of a family than ever before. Their numbers were small but they have a bond that will never be broken. The building has been in terrible shape for several years, no fault of the guys, and needed to be remodeled. I feel that was a factor in having to close down the building. That and fire code violations which needed to be fixed and weren't. It's hard to have rush events and try to recruit new members when your building association doesn't care enough to have things fixed and make sure building codes were up to spec. I am sad they won't have a house this year. I am hoping the guys will still have regular meetings and do TKE events. Eventually I hope they will be able to buy a smaller, more functional building that they can keep updated.
