They are doing a late rush because they nearly had their chapter shut down.

Technically they're really smart to rush now.

Alpha Phi's nationals came down and did a cleansing of undesirable members. This is THE best time to rush.

Lol okay. They didn't chose this, it's part of their punishment. There's a lot of stuff they will not change, National's or not. If they truly change and take members on any criteria besides looks, hell will freeze over.
