Probably not a problem, just be open minded about who you want to rush. Frats tend to care less about age than sororities.

Thank you for your service to our country.

As an older member that's also a veteran, it's not a problem.

Hell, I'd imagine you'd be sought after.

Guys can get bids at any age/class standing. You're still a sophomore so it's not an issue. Also, you're a veteran, which means you served the US and everyone likes that. Lastly, Phi Kappa Psi, a fraternity at URI, president served in the Army and is highly respected among URI Greek life.

Can someone also explain how bids work and what do frats look for in picking people for thee frat also how bad is the hazing once you get it how far does it go?

A bid is an invite to join the fraternity. As long as the guys like you, you'll get a bid. Some frats haze while others don't. Just look around and see what guys you like the best

The frats will advertise rush events when school starts. Pickup football or basketball, a meet up at a bar or restaurant, meet at the house to watch tv and get to know brothers, that kind of stuff. You just attend the events at the frats you are interested in rushing, and if they like you they keep inviting you back.
