smaller frats?

by:

Honesty what purpose do the smaller frats serve? For example, Theta Chi, AEPi, Delta Chi and when they were on campus, ATO. They have no house, barely have any members and rarely see kids wearing those letters. Phi Psi is also small but at least they won Philanthropy Week so they get a pass.

I'm in a sorority and I really don't know much about those frats. I'm sure they're nice kids but what's the point of having these small, uninvolved frats on campus?

I thought it was mega-obvious, but I guess spelling it all out helps for the Barney-friendly.
Here's the "point":
- Brotherhood, which is basically an elevated form of friendship (my definition). People come to college and want to belong, being on their own for (usually) the first time. You may call a fraternity like AEPi small, but they chose each other, and they may have a deeply satisfying brotherhood that only they understand. And you know what? That's pretty awesome.
- Philanthropy (just because it isn't promoted on the Greek Life page doesn't mean it's non-existent.)
- Networking for their career post-college. (Sounds crazy, but brothers don't need sorority girls to help each other get a job post-graduation)
- Smaller groups also know all of their respective brothers, (usually). I know much more than just one sorority girl that has absolutely no idea who each of their sisters are. Size looks good on paper, but when you don't even know who your sister or brother is, what benefit exactly are they providing to you given the purpose of the organization?

Small frats don't hurt the system, and growth helps us all. The sororities at URI have almost always been bigger than the frats. The sororities are also experiencing increased interest overall. It would be cool if that influences guys on campus, and there was growth for frats too.

I see all those letters all the time... So maybe get your head out of your ass and you'll see them too

Yes this chick does sound ignorant but let's be real...I'm a senior in greek life and I've never seen an ATO shirt...the only time I've seen an AEPi shirt was when they were collecting money in the union.

Also, these frats have like 25-40 kids and no house. They are irrelevant. How many people wait all week for the AEPi party?

Just because they aren't relevant to you, doesn't mean they're irrelevant. Every house on this campus has (and will) go through good and bad times. The ones on top now will probably be completely different in a few years.

Having a frat house on campus doesn't make or break a URI fraternity, never has.

You sound like a douche if you think people wait all week for your parties, lol.
