There is already an official panhel expansion committee that is researching the actual interest and necessity of starting a new sorority. It take a lot of statistics into account in regards to the numbers of girls that rush, drop, remain members throughout school, etc.
There is a lot of buzz about greek life, but compared to other schools our rush numbers haven't been good for a long time. Panhel will start with 500-600 girls, but 40-50% will drop out during the process. Girls talk about joining a sorority, but many buy into the dirty rushing/rumors about the houses and decide too early that "none of them are right for me".
KD also wasn't an overnight thing. Their interest group had been building the foundation for a new sorority for over a year. Before that, ZTA took several years to colonize as a national, and Alpha Phi was a local for a few years before they went national.
Alpha Chi Omega also has the choice of recolonizing at the five year mark of the loss of their charter (just like Alpha Xi Delta did).
If all of the women that signed up for recruitment followed the entire process, each house would have HUGE pledge classes (40-60 girls). If that trend continued, there might be reason for another sorority. Right now 10 is plenty for this campus.

Never said anything about suspension. I said Alpha Chi would have the choice of recolonization five years after the loss of their charter. Obviously their nationals would make that decision. Alpha Xi lost their charter and chose to recolonize after the minimum 5 year wait.
#6by: Lets try this
Instead of determining that you couldn't possibly fit into any of the current ten chapters, why don't you come to recruitment and meet the girls in all the houses and join one that already exists.
And while we are at it, how about we start building some unity among our chapters. All we ever do is compete and say nasty things on the internet about each other.
