is there a guide somewhere?

Does URI publish an overview of sorority recruitment rules and dress codes online anywhere? I can’t find one

They will tell you everything at rush first night. Also on the Instagram they will be posting sample outfits :)

If I don’t have something I need for rush or don’t bring it to college bc I don’t think I’ll need it, is there time to go out and buy something. Do a lot of girls end up wearing the same stuff if they don’t have something?

I would recommend watching YouTube videos if you are unsure of what kind of outfits you need! It gets more formal as the rounds go on, and you don’t need to worry about the first round that much (because you are given a shirt). The best thing about the rounds after the first is that it is your chance to show your individual style to the Sororities! Good luck (:

One of the days they give you a shirt so you can pair that with jeans, shirts, or a skirt and nice shoes. They can be any cute shoe but heels would leave a better impression. There’s a day where you’re wearing “casual” clothes but dress like your meeting the girls for brunch and you haven’t seen the girls in a while so you wanna look hot. Pref round is formal so dress like you’re going on a date and wanna be wife material. Don’t dress like you’re gojng to a club. Nothing skimpy. You can be hot and classy. Think maxi dress, nice skirt, jumpsuit, heels. Try to stay away from jeans but if it’s all you have white jeans look classier.

Don’t wear heels for the first couple days unless you know they won’t hurt your feet. The first few days consist of a LOT of walking and standing esp the first round

I would wear nice sandals or flats but if you don’t have those nice sneakers are perfectly fine! Some houses judge based on looks in the very beginning to weed out the girls they don’t want but other than a select few most houses just like to see how well you can put yourself together and if it’s appropriate for the occasion aka don’t dress like you’re going to the club or the bar when you’re being interviewed. Rush is basically a long winded interview process and you will be given ideas on what to wear. Those are a starting point. It’s important to dress to impress these ladies but don’t change who you are to fit an organization. If you don’t have the nicest clothes that’s not a deal breaker for some houses; maybe 2-3 but that’s it.

A suit or sports coat is needed for formal interviews but besides that dress how you would normally dress

How conservative should we dress? Are backless dresses and cutouts okay?

Dress for the occasion. Backless should be fine but I’d avoid cutouts IMO. You don’t want to look like you’re going to a club. Just make sure your outfit is appropriate for the “theme.” Basically don’t wear anything your mom or grandmother would disapprove of if you want to be safe. But you don’t have to dress like an Amish wife lol
