huge dilemma about spring rush..
by: succccccccks
I am a freshman, and I hoped to rush during the spring semester. But due to my lack of motivation during the fall, my gpa is down the drains.. but my extracurriculars in high school was pretty good. I dont know if I should wait till sophomore year.. the reason why i want to rush now is because i want to go through informal recruitment, and one of the houses i really want to get into is participating in it. I just feel like during the fall, the process is so long and i have to go to every house.
And btw, if i dont tell them my gpa, will they have a way of finding out?

Sadly, a lot of sororities have minimum gpa requirements that are either set by their nationals or their local chapter. Depending on how badly you tanked you might be able to get a bid but if it's ridiculously low then I would find out the minimum gpa of the house you want to get in and focus on that and just wait until the fall. Even though you're not a fan of formal recruitment it's better than having to wait a full year plus it'll give you something to work towards this semester.
There are ways for them to check your gpa but you need to sign a form to release it. Most organizations make you sign it during their new member education program so it's usually best to just be honest about it.
