Some houses will not take sophomores because sophomores already have their friend group and are less likely to be involved in a sorority. Also they want 4 years of dues money out of you as well. If they like you enough they will take you but don't be surprised if a top house drops you first round for being a sophomore

Most houses don't really care. I rushed as a junior, had a full
Schedule every day of rush and ended up at the house I wanted! It's all about just showing you're committed to the process and you'll end up where you're supposed to be

don't worry about being a sophomore. i was so nervous rushing as a sophomore but got the house i wanted and was dropped by none. just be yourself and you will be fine.

You'll be fine! So many sophomores rush that it doesn't matter. I prefed one of the top houses as a sophomore, so as long as your yourself you'll find the right place!

Know of 3 sophomores, super-cute, high GPA cut from the top 6 after only Round 1. I dropped out. Girls are fake if they act so nice and then cut you like that. That's not the sisterhood I'm looking for.

The houses are fake if they are nice to you, then cut you? You're a guest in their home and they are trying to get to know you. How do you think recruitment works? And If you ended the day with the mindset of there being a top 6 and everything else was beneath you then you're the problem.

If you rush as a sophomore at uri you don't have the same opportunities as the freshmen and that's the reality of it

I tried rush this time too. Sophomore, decently attractive blonde, with a 3.5 GPA. Girls I met at the top six houses I thought I clicked with and even had some of them saying stuff along the lines of "can't wait to see you tomorrow!" Next day, cut from all of them except for ChiO, PhiSig, AXiD and DPhiE. Nothing against those houses, but I didn't click with them as much as I did with the others. I have all houses a chance, why couldn't they do the same for me? Very annoyed to have spent my time AND money on Greek Life and not have a fair shot. Dropped.

So you are mad that after 20 minutes of meeting you the more popular houses had the nerve to cut you, but you have decided in the same amount of time not to give those other houses another round, and that's okay?
