just wondering
by: CuriousCan someone tell me why Sigma Phi Epsilon has a house, yet doesn't do anything at it? Why do they have chapter meetings below the cafeteria and why they can't party at the house? I've seen that they can't even have mixers or have intramural teams. Why is that? What happened? Did they get in alot of trouble or is JSU shutting down their chapter?

Sigma Phi Epsilon is currently on probation due to certain aspects of their pre-ritual which were deemed as hazing by their National Headquarters and the University. While these activities are allowed and encouraged by most other National Fraternities represented at JSU Sigma Phi Epsilon has to set the standard. As a result, Sigma Phi Epsilon will be on probation until May. All types of hazing have been eliminated.

Just because I'm a realist, please do not repeat what your former brothers did in the past. What you all do is your business, but when incidents like what happened at last year's Hurricane happens, it's a bad look for all IFC fraternities and Greek Life in general. If you all want to be clowns, that is what Gadsden State is for. So if you look forward to continuing your so-called "pre-ritual tradition" in the future, make sure it's not affiliated with Greek Life and Jacksonville State as a whole.
