The stacks they are earning go towards paying for the current mortgage. Do you think since they don't live in the house that the mortgage doesn't need to get paid. That's why unless you can fill the house they would be like DU and look to renting out their open rooms to non-members. You obviously have no idea how the world of finance - certainly hope you're not a business major.

What if they own their houses already? Then the money is only going towards taxes and insurance... even if they didn’t you think they sent the rent to just cover the mortgage payment? I hope your not actually in the business school yourself.

Even communication majors know sig nu and delta chi own their houses free and clear. Sig nu been on campus sense 1893 and delta chi 1912 both living in those houses before the 1960s...

Sig Ep'r why the rage, you guys are fine with your 200 pledges in your updated house. like someone already said, SigNu and Delta Chi have to own their houses. the bigger concern is that their nationals don't recognize the Iowa chapters as being active so they have to go through the process to reactivate and who knows how long that would take. Hopefully by then all the houses will have split from the IFC and the rule of the university. can you imagine - we can dream.

Yeah it’s looking like all the houses are heading toward that. Not a single reason to stay with the university at this point

I’m going to say a sig pi/Sig ep pledge posted this not knowing greek life here. Sig pi and delt Sig will not have houses in 3 years so I would not have them at mid level. Fiji will not fall that hard. No sororities are allowed to attend acacia functions, they will be dead sometime next year. Pike is under the university scope for hazing so we will see what happens there.

Their signed leases are up in 2 years. Yes sig nu and deta chi will need to start fresh but they will have all the money from renting to put towards rush. Both houses have super huge alumni bases at iowa and are not selling. So yes Delt sig and Sig pi will be bad soon.

It really does work that way. Nationals and local alums will reorganize and direct rush. They aren’t selling their houses. They have just leased them to make money. This has happened many times in Iowa’s Greek history. Strong chapters survive suspension and move back into their houses.
