fall recruitment

by: uiowagreek

There is literaly a house for everyone here, and instead of putting each other down and picking out the flaws of each house, girls need to know the good about the houses to focus on during recruitment.

Fun loving: Gphi, pi phi, kappa, and tri delt are probably what would be considered party houses. The girls are all very outgoing and definately like enjoy the social aspect of greek life. If you are very social, these are good houses to look at.

Over-achievers: Chi o, Theta, AXO, and DG would be considered the hard working houses. They are very involved in the community aspects of greek life and are very present during greek awards. Especially Chi o and DG, grades are very important. Chi o, theta, and axo all won chapter of the year this year voted by all the chapters on campus.

Philanthropy-based: Zeta and AZD are very commited to their philanthropies are were both a big success this year. Zeta's philanthropy is breast cancer which is a great cause to raise money for. They both raised A LOT of money this last year, and there 5k's were very successful.

Girls next door: Aphi is a group of girls who are very classy and genuinely sweet, and what you could think of as your girl next door. They even live in a house that looks like a dollhouse, which reflects their classy, sorority girl style.

Unique: DZ and ADPi are a mix of girls that personalities bring them all together. You can meet almost every type of girl in these houses, proving that sorority life is for everyone here.

This review had to be written by an Alpha Phi barn animal.

Stop self ranking Aphi! It's pathetic! You over use the word "classy" For you, class is about using your napkins when putting yourselves into a nightly food coma. Go back inside your little blue house and eat some more coffeecake and donuts. It will make you feel better and then maybe you will be able to get your grades up.

ADPi is very philanthropy based! Their philanthropy is right in town and they volunteer all the time!

I personally think this list is pretty accurate. I don't see why people are being rude to the Alpha Phis. They are genuinely good girls and are a well rounded house.

Side-note: this is probably one of UI's best kept secrets but Tri Delta actually raised the most money on campus last year (more than $40,000) but it seems like nobody knows that.

I just went through rush and I have never seen anything so staged or so fake in my life. Seriously trippy. How do you girls look at yourselves in the mirror at the end of the day. I felt like everyone was auditioning for some freak reality show. After being through every one of those houses, I would say that met some real girls in one or two. The rest of you are like scripted Barbies in your matchy clothes. Unreal. I just threw up in my mouth!

We realize that recruitment makes everyone look like robots and the greetings and everything make it seem staged. Those are just the rules. But if we actually were a freak reality show and scripted barbies NO ONE in my chapter would be there right now. Sorry you didn't like the process, but odds are whatever script you thought you were being read is actually what girls think about their chapter. It's hard to relay information to a PNM without sounding like we're being fake. We want to sound enthused and that's just part of the process. I hope you didn't drop because once you make it to bid day, the structure comes off and the reality of how fun being in a sorority is comes out.

Lex, its Delta Gamma but its okay a lot of people get the names mixed up when theyre first going through recruitment. Choose what you like best!
