dropping a house

by: OSU

I've heard so far that at least 8 girls have already dropped the house they got a bid from. Is it common?

Yes it is common. They don't think about the time and financial commitments, particularly the latter. They finally break the news to their parents that it will cost $$$, and by the way, that is due now. Parents say no, and the girls drop. It happens every year and it sucks.

Do a lot of these girls rush again next year?

I HATE when girls rush without either deciding to pay for it themselves or tell their parents the cost. There are so many awesome girls from OSU who either got dropped or got dropped by their favorite houses only to have 15-20 babies drop from every house before they are even initiated

15-20 girls that's a little over inflated. Sure there's always a handful of girls and yes it really does suck that they take a spot that another girl would love to have

I got dropped and am rushing ZTA. I am excited to rush them, but to know that people drop out because of financial commitments is so sad. I have the money to join a sorority and my parents are supporting my college, so it is not like I have a lot to worry about. I wonder what it would be like without those type of people rushing. Like who would get the spots because they know they can be in it? Like if you can not afford it, then why would you join? It is more embarrassing to say you dropped out because you could not afford it than getting dropped from rush. I am not trying to complain, but am stating the obvious.
